Find the perfect bowl for you.
Asakusa Takeya is a chopstick specialty store that has been operating in Asakusa Nakamise since 2001.
Our store was opened by my grandfather, who has been running a business in Nakamise for about 70 years, with the hope that he could help "bridge the gap between people" by giving chopsticks as souvenirs to people who visit Asakusa.
We have over 500 types of chopsticks available in our shop. Each pair has its own merits, from traditional lacquered chopsticks to chopsticks hand-carved by artisans and dishwasher-safe chopsticks. We hope you will come and find the chopsticks that suit your fingers and hands.
Chopsticks are an important tool that acts as a bridge between lives.
Chopsticks are a tool that everyone uses every day.
It is an important tool that connects food and people, and acts as a "bridge between life and death." However, are you choosing and using such an important tool carelessly?
There are many points to consider when choosing chopsticks, such as size, length, thickness, weight, balance, feel, etc. People's hands vary in size, finger length, thickness, etc., so there is no single pair of chopsticks that suits everyone.
Please enjoy our Edo wooden chopsticks, which are carefully crafted as tools.
What are Edo wooden chopsticks?
Chopsticks can be used for a variety of actions, such as mixing, cutting, and loosening.
The Edo wooden chopsticks we carry are made with the understanding that they are tools for such delicate work.
There are various types, including four-sided, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, round, oval, and irregular shapes, each with its own characteristics in terms of functionality and balance.
Please try them out and choose a pair that fits perfectly in your hand.
Metal or hardwood chopsticks are also recommended.
Metal chopsticks (silver and titanium) are also available.
Unlike wood, the tips of the chopsticks do not chip or change color, so they can be kept clean and used for a long time.
Another advantage is that they are easy to match with Western-style dishes. Titanium chopsticks are also easier to clean than silver chopsticks.
If you are looking for chopsticks made from a hard wood, we recommend ebony or rosewood chopsticks, which are hard, strong, and durable.
We also recommend the black persimmon, a rare and mythical tree that is found on only one in 10,000 persimmon trees over 150 years old.
